5 Skin Benefits of Geranium Essential Oil
By now, you’ve probably heard of the more popular essential oils, such as lavender, rose, eucalyptus, and peppermint. But have you ever heard of geranium oil (or tried it in our Nourish Lavender + MCT Cleansing Oil)? Read on to learn how you can tone up your tummy, scare away mosquitos, and maintain flawless skin all with one essential oil.
1. Clear Skin
No matter your skin type (dry, oily, normal, or combination), geranium oil is a great essential oil to add to your bathroom cabinet. This powerful oil balances sebum production, heals scars, evens skin tone, tightens skin, and also kills bacteria that lead to acne and eczema. You can use geranium oil as a spot treatment by applying it directly to any trouble spots, or mix it in with your cleanser and wash your face twice daily.
2. Wrinkle Fighter
Because geranium oil is an astringent, it can tighten skin, reduce the presence of wrinkles, and slow premature aging. We suggest adding 2-3 drops of geranium oil to your face cream to see results within 2 weeks.
3. Muscle Toner
As mentioned above, since geranium oil is an astringent, it helps contract and tighten. Heading to the beach? Ditch the bronzer. Spread a couple of drops in a circular direction over your abdominal region to instantly tone your stomach.
4. Deodorant
Looking for a deodorant, but don’t want to put chemicals on your body? Try geranium oil! This oil is a circulatory oil, meaning it exits your body through perspiration. It also has antibacterial elements, which help eliminate body odours, making it an amazing natural deodorant. In a spray bottle, mix 10 drops of geranium oil with 10 tablespoons of water, and smell fresh all day long.
5. Insect Repellant & Bug Bite Healer
For some reason, mosquitos are as obsessed with me as I am with cheesecake. Lucky for me, mosquitos hate essential oils that have antimicrobial properties, making geranium oil an excellent bug repellent. Mix a few drops of geranium oil with water (add some baking soda if you’d like soothing results), and store in a spray bottle.
